...it starts getting gloomy again. Grr. But...

I finally cracked yesterday. While I do completely adore Jeff, I absolutely could not stand the hours that I was keeping in order to keep up with him. He's a Night Owl and I'm more of a Morning Bird. I finally caved and told him I couldn't stay up with him and had to keep my own hours. This will mean less time with Jeff (:() but a lot more time with the chemistry and a generally happier existence.

I love mornings. It's a gray one, but I can't really feel bad about it.

The fabulous and terrible thing about living in SoCal is that everybody wants to visit. Some time around the second week in December, I get the "It's cold here. I want to come out to SoCal in a few weeks, can I crash with you?" e-mail.

This is wonderfully advantageous because this means that I get visitors all the time and get to see my friends...from high school, college, and the like. (My high school friends weren't this enthusiastic about visiting me when I was in cold New England for college!)

But this is also terribly disadvantageous because then I actually have to plan around stuff. Eeep.

Cousin Ted and college friend Lisa coming in the span of the next ten days; Ted stays for a week, but came here for undergrad and so has places to go and people to see and hence I do not need to entertain. Lisa is here for a long weekend, so that is much more manageable timewise. My friends are so smart! :)

I have a few friends...

...from warmer climes who "threatened" to come visit me this winter and see snow for the first time! I'm sad none of them have made good on the threat yet! We've had two days of snow and have a good, fluffy foot on the ground.

How's the snow?!? You sound so very happy! Did the kids go out and build snowpeople?

Unfortunately...

...today it was warm enough to rain. Our 12 inches of fluffy snow (yes, the kids played and built snowpeople and forts) is now 3 inches of mushy glop. And tomorrow we're going to have ice something fierce, when it gets cold enough overnight to freeze it all.

Oh well! That's life in winter!
