...or the stupid contagious freaking viral infection that has taken residence up in my nose has. As it is contagious, I'm under orders to stay at home today and tomorrow.

It's not pretty, and it's consuming. I've spent 16 of the last 24 hours asleep. 16!!

Unbelievable. I haven't slept this much since my '01 flu!

Beyond astounding myself with my newly acquired superpower, I've surprised myself with another new talent: the ability to muffle the self-doubt and apprehension that's gripped me for the past couple of months. It must be the congestion. Doesn't allow for much else in my head. :p

Anyhow, from what I've read on my flist, some of you had peaceful holidays, and some, not so. All the same, I'm sorry I haven't been keeping track of you guys. I was stupid. Things got stressful, and instead of clinging to the things and people who keep me calm, I gave them up. And that didn't really help. At ALL. I've learned.

I wasn't going make a resolution, but I guess I've walked right into one: while I understand that I have to give up some things when life in lab gets a bit rough, I can't give it all up. I will continue to try to find balance.

I hope that everybody's 2007 is off to good start, and here's hoping much pleasure and success will find you this year!
