Ahh weekend
Jun. 19th, 2005 10:20 pmSaturday. Met up with
lelu, with whom I've chatted for four/five years but never met. She is awesome: fun and funny, the best combo. Had lunch, hit up the bookstore and watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith with her. I love meetings like this: it's like I have a whole new brain to pick over books, etc., and since we've already talked for such a long time, I already know her to a certain extent; there was no awkwardness. It was just relaxed and fun. I had such a great time, L!!!!!
Another cool aspect of meeting with her: the drive. A 60 mile drive into Redlands, CA. I love driving. It makes me feel so free and unfettered. I love road trips, because then I can hook up my ipod to my car and just wail along, bopping along in my Beetle. The sun comes done and warms the seats and I smile and sigh in to the seat. And I pretend I'm not some grad student driving away for a bit. I imagine all sorts of strange stuff. Worries will come, and they'll slip away in my driving happiness. Redlands itself was very interesting; everything is wide open and huge. And there are stop signs instead of stop lights...and there are no problems with that! :)
Sunday. Honestly woke up feeling quite blue...until I realized that it was Sunday, not Monday. I celebrated by...going to work and trying to tackle that stupid instrument problem, and after tinkering with that for a while, sat down and finished my rereading and crit of
wendybarron's Every Arrear.
It's 10:30 now and I'm dreading what I'm about to do next: open my word file and reread and work on the difficult scene I'd pounded through on Wednesday. I suppose I've put it off enough, though I am tempted to curl up with Julie Garwood's Prince Charming instead (at
lelu's recommendation) See,
bijoux? I'm reading a Julie Garwood! We found the one that doesn't have a Scottish person in it!
Anyhow, I'm enjoying my new Coldplay(!!!) CD. Yaaaay!
