I had a very good Friday evening, chilling out with [livejournal.com profile] jennlynnfs and her family. They drove up from Long Beach to hang out at the Huntington. After they finished they gave me a call, and they ended up coming over to my Bachelorette Pad in late afternoon/evening. [livejournal.com profile] jennlynnfs hasn't seen "The Pad", more for lack of opportunity than anything else; she's busy and we usually meet over down in LB at her place. But it was nice to entertain. We ended up ordering dinner from Avanti Cafe and just chatting a bit, as both the men of Jenn's life, her husband and toddler, got drowsy. I sent them on their way at around 8:30 and I eeked out another hour of thesis productivity before settling in with my latest read, Mark Kurlansky's Salt: A World History.

Saturday was fantastic. K and I decided that we'd eventually hit up both museums, and that took the weight of our decision away ;). (Thank you for your opinions!!!!) Because the Matisse and Expressionism exhibits seemed to be only open until the middle of April, we decided on LACMA.

We got to there in good time. And wouldn't you know, what did [livejournal.com profile] happychemist and K end up spending most of their time looking at? Modern and Contemporary Art! The Broad Contemporary Art Museum was absolutely delightful, and very interesting. My appreciation for Modern and Contemporary work, in visual art and music, (performance art remains rather difficult for me to grasp, though I occasionally try) has been making a LOOOONG slow bloom these past couple of years, so I was glad to foster it a bit more on Saturday.

Sunday was errands, and more deathmarch productivity and a yoga session to cut the day in half and rejuvenate. Wouldn't you know: our substitute teacher is actually a full-time attorney? ([livejournal.com profile] the_marchioness...getting ideas yet?) and it was a very good day for me; I stretched a lot deeper than I thought could, so I felt absolutely fantastic when I finished.

I know I work during my weekends, but I hate it when the weekend's over, and I feel the "structure" of the week pressing down on me again.

Clearly very loopy today.

Glad you had such a fun weekend, even with weekend work :)

Sounds like a fascinating book! i may have to pick up a copy to add to the already huge TBR pile.

Sounds like your weekend was a perfect blend of friends, personal time, work, and fun. Most excellent!

Hahahahahahahahaha! Maybe that's why I like things balanced so much? ;)
