WTF? Do you know who it is for sure, or do you have strong suspicions?

Either way, a confrontation is needed. Preferably with some ass-kickage.

Or, you can be sneaky about it and make extra diethylether, hexanes, and dcm and purposefully add something to them to make them messed up and shit, and have him ruin his experiment when he steals your stuff. (You can hide the real stuff somewhere else, like in the air vents or under a floor tile or something, heh.) And then you can kick some ass on top of that.
