My project involves modification of a tyrosine amino acid residue on the protein azurin. For 5 months, I've been trying to nitrate the little bugger but it's been elusive, despite my many efforts.
But FINALLY, me and my green protein can move on with the project! It'll take me a few weeks yet to generate enough of the modified protein and clean it, etc., but I'll be playing with lasers soon!
When your proteins start talking back at you and saying stuff like, "Crystal, I am your father . . ." that's when you'll know it's time to pack in the bags and go home. ;)
Congratulations! M says, "Nice job!" I was trying to get him to say something more supportive since he was a chem minor, but what was I thinking? He is a man of few words. :)
